Goodbye, Burroughs

This is something I've been putting off writing about for over a week now. Last January 16, I found Burroughs in his little home-inside-a-home (an open jar placed on the ground floor of his cage, near his wheel), stiff and unmoving, the life having left his little body.

I had hoped he would at least reach his second birthday. Still, am happy for the time I had with him, though I will miss him terribly.






Burroughs in the wild, sort of. On nice early mornings I would sometimes take him outside and let him sniff the plants. (And then take him back inside before the neighbors' cats could sniff him.)


Looking at this picture, I have the urge to trim that stray tuft of hair on his backside.


I like this shot because you can see his stylishly spiked 'hairstyle.' Though I could brush and trim the rest of his fur, his head of course remained untampered with.


Burroughs enjoyed his banana slices (though seedless grapes were his absolute favorite).


I will miss the feel of his little paws on my arm...


... and the lovely snuggly hamstery smell of him.


Goodbye, my handsome, silly, wonderful hammie. Hope you are enjoying your grapes up in heaven.

im sorry for your loss, i recently lost my two hammies, its an awful feeling :(

Thank you. I was numb at the beginning -- it took a while for the loss to sink in. :(

*Hugs* It's difficult to loose any pet.
My Leela would always gladly crawl into my hands, and never ever bit me. She was the most loving hamster. She and her sister, were brutally 'murdered' by a rat. Somehow, a rat got into my house and i found my hammie half alive. It was so traumatic. It's been only a week or so, but I'm not even over it. I've just come to accept, I'll probably always miss them. :(

All we can do now, is remember the good times. I'm sure you gave your little guy had a great life. <3

Aww, poor little Burroughs... He always looked so fluffy in pictures! So incredibly adorable. :)

Oh no, I'm so sorry.
I can't believe Burroughs is gone... he was like Ookii's twin.
:(
RIP cutie. We'll miss you. And his beautiful fur and expressive face and crazy posts.... :(((

It always made me grin whenever you compared Burroughs to Ookii because from your very first Ookii post he was one of my absolute favorite hammies in the community. :)
